Corona Safety Measures
Re-opening of all Courses and Programmes
We are re-opening our language school in Kilkenny on 10.08.20.
Life in Kilkenny is slowly returning back to normal: shops, cafeterias, restaurants, museums, and cinemas are open. The main streets in Kilkenny have been remodeled to allow for more distance between people. Normal activities can resume, for example visits to the castle park, shopping, use of public transport to name a few.
We have worked diligently in conjunction with Ireland´s National Health Service and our governing bodies to ensure our school in Kilkenny is a safe place for our students and staff. Our school has large, spacious classrooms, common areas both inside and outside that are adequately sized to safely sccommodate our students and our staff.
Here are some guidelines of what we have put in place:
Student's temperature will be checked automatically every day when entering and leaving the school building. At the school entrance, students will be asked to clean their hands with sanitizer.
There will be signs around the school explaining the one-way system for using the stairwells and corridors. The use of a mask is currently not mandatory in Ireland. However, if the safety distance of two metres cannot be guaranteed we ask our students to come with their own mask and wear it in the school.
School staff will be wearing a mask when in close contact with students. Our teachers are allowed to take off the mask during lessons respecting the 2 metres safety distance guideline.
Hand sanitizers will be available in the school area. Surface disinfectant product will be available in school's toilets and common areas.
The school will be intensively cleaned and disinfected every day. Certain areas such as toilets, railings, door knobs etc. will be cleaned and disinfected several times per day.
Depending on the size of the classroom each class will have max. 10 students in order to respect a minimum distance of 1.50 metres between each participant. During group work students will be given face masks.
Leisure Programme & Day-trips
The weekly schedule might be adapted if needed with staggered class start times and break times to avoid many students moving around the corridors or in the common areas of the school at the same time. Teachers will advise of break times on arrival.
The weekly activity program will be organized in reduced groups focusing mainly on open air activities. The activity program will also have staggered starting times. Kilkenny offers many opportunities for these activities.
Host family accommodation
Host families will follow all government guidelines on social distancing and will ensure common areas are maintained to a high degree of cleanliness.
Health Care & Wellbeing
In case a student has a high temperature, we will help her/him to see a doctor who will determine the treatment and measures that have to be taken.
In case of positive COVID-19 testing, the student will be asked to stay in the accommodation in an isolated room for a minimum of 14 days following health authorities’ recommendations (at an additional charge).
We will give our students all the support they need during these uncertain times.
